Dining Plan at Walt Disney World

Bad

We had 12 people and I thought the convenience of everybody having their own dining plan would make our trip smoother. Boy was I wrong.

I ended up going with the Deluxe Dining which is just absolute overkill for all but the hungriest eaters. It involves 3 meals, with 3 courses each, and 2 snacks a day.  It was insane trying to essentially eat 11 courses in a time packed day. We ended up buying a bunch of bags of candy at the end to make up for all the snack credits we had left.

The other downside is the kids meals are very limited and sometimes they wanted to order off the real menu but they couldn’t, so we would have to pay out of pocket.

Again, just do your homework on these but I thought they were a huge waste of money and time.

Good

  • Lots of food

Bad

  • Lots of food
  • Often more time consuming than using money
  • Confusing
  • Restrictive

Summary

Overall I thought this was a colossal waste of money. I didn't think the math added up before I went, but I wanted to try it. Turns out you spend your entire trip planning around your meals. My sage advice - don't do it unless you have special circumstance where you know this will benefit you. You will be exhausted, nobody wants to eat that much.
